Glasgow is the biggest city in Scotland and the third largest in the UK. It has a population of approximately 630,000 and is at the centre of a catchment population of over 3 million. The city has the largest office centre in the UK outside London, and continues to experience growth driven in particular by the finance, insurance and public sectors. The city has a vibrant and diverse local economy.

Glasgow is one of the fastest growing employment centres in the UK, having delivered a growth rate almost twice that of both Scotland and Britain as a whole since 1996. In the three years to 2005, some 19,000 high value managerial, technical, administrative and skilled jobs were created (Glasgow Economic Review – June 2006) demonstrating Glasgow’s diverse appeal across the financial and service sectors.
